Let The Right One In (2008)

This one’s a bit of a repost from the old blog but it’s hard to believe this film came out 12 years ago.

It’s not often when something fresh is squeezed out of a seemingly played out genre so, when it happens it really becomes a rare treat.

Tomas Alfredson’s control, visual minimalism and savory narrative restraint is what makes him a great director (I’ve watched his rendition of Le Carré’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy so much I’ve lost count. A separate post about that film is probably in the offing)

Let the Right One In is proof to me that storytelling when done right is one of the great joys in life. (Cinematography by Hoyte Van Hoytema way before Hollywood discovered his genius)
